Garment manufacturing is our core business. We started the second organized garment factory of Bangladesh on 23 January 1980. Today, the Garment Industry of Bangladesh consists of over 3500 factories, earning about $42 billion USD of annual revenue and employing over 4 million people, mostly women.
We are proud to be a pioneer of an industry that has been in the frontlines of the nation’s development, and is a symbol of women’s empowerment in Bangladesh.
Azim Group has successfully implemented the FastReactPlan, a software solution by Coats Digital which integrates data across various departments and provides centralized line planning and periodic production projections based on available manpower, product SMV and efficiency levels. The FastReactPlan software enabled Azim Group to establish accurate minutes based load vs capacity monitoring. It is now possible to view all planning-related information under one platform which helps management to make more data driven strategic and financial decisions. Since the implementation, Azim Group has realized a 15% increase in planning efficiency and a 97% faster turnaround in order confirmations.
Azim Group has always believed in giving back to the community with any form of help and kindness that can have a positive impact. Since October 2021, we have partnered up with Honest Charity to donate our surplus stock garments to the underprivileged people. Honest Charity is a pay-it-forward model organization which means it receives our donations and systematically distributes it through its channel to the people in need. Honesty Charity receives proceeds from the surplus product on their online platform. 60% of the proceeds are then paid forward among the underprivileged.
Congratulations to Global Avengers team from Marketing Department on winning the intra-department Azim Group Dhaka Woven Cricket Tournament 2021. The annual cricket tournament was held after a break of two years from organized sports due to Covid-19 protocols. The winning team was handed over their trophy by Ahsanul Kader Zahed, Executive Director at Azim Group. A total of ten teams from various departments competed for the trophy. The cricket atmosphere at the tournament provided much needed source of entertainment for all participating teams as well as their peers, friends and families in attendance. Health and safety protocols were maintained with proof of vaccination required for all participants.
On 19 December 2020, Azim Group’s denim manufacturing subsidiaries - Global Outerwear Ltd. and Global Fashion Garments Ltd. were presented with Certificates of Appreciation by Employment Injury Protection Scheme for the Workers in the Textile and Leather Industries (EIPS), GIZ for successful implementation of the COVID-19 Management System at factory facilities. On 20 April 2020, an End-user License Agreement (EULA) was signed via Zoom meeting between Azim Group and Coats Group to integrate its FastReactPlan software at our denim specialized subsidiary, Global Outerwear Ltd. FastReactPlan by Coats Digital will use its dynamic features to optimize capacity planning processes, materials and pre-production activities, and help with increased visibility, flexibility, speed and cost-efficiency in this global market with rising costs and shrinking lead times. The partnership agreement was signed by M.A.K Zahed (Executive Director, Azim Group) and Wesley Ekman (Senior Director of Global Sales, Coats Digital).
Anondo Bhromon cultural show was organized by our Quality Department of Dhaka Woven at Monpura Park, Gazipur on 6 March 2020, before the pandemic. The day started with a speech on the podium by our Founder and Chairman, Mohammad Fazlul Azim (on picture) - the Chief Guest at the event. The daylong event consisted of music, dance and drama performed by workers and management members from our Dhaka Woven factories. As seen in the picture - Asgar Ali (AGM Finishing), Atahar Babul (AGM Sewing), Moinul Islam (AGM Quality) and M.A.K Zahed (Executive Director) were also present at Anondo Bhromon 2020.
UNICEF Deputy Representative, Ms. Veera Mendonca, visited Azim Group factories in Chittagong on 13 February 2020. She was also accompanied by Chief of Nutrition, Ms. Piyali Mustaphi, and other high officials from UNICEF. The visiting team observed our “Mothers@Work” programme in collaboration with UNICEF at our Child Care Center facilities. Azim Group factories excelled in all seven standards set by the Mothers@Work programme, which include – breastfeeding spaces, breastfeeding breaks, child care provision, paid maternity leave, cash and medical benefits, employment protection and non-discrimination, and safe work provision.
On 27 October 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Azim Group and Asian University for Women (AUW) at Global Outerwear Ltd. in Savar, Dhaka. Under the agreement, up to five workers every year will receive full scholarship from AUW to pursue an undergraduate degree. During their enrollment period of five years, Azim Group will continue to pay them monthly salaries. Documents were exchanged between Muhammad Belal Hossain (Head of HR & Compliance, Azim Group), Md. Ali Akbar (GM, Azim Group), Dr. Dave Dowland (Registrar & COO, AUW) and Suman Chatterjee (Director - Marketing & Student Recruitment, AUW).
Azim Group Deputy Managing Director, Farhan Azim, and Executive Director, S.M. Mohi Uddin, received KOHL’S 2018 Greatness Award Nominee certification in recognition of outstanding partnership at KOHL’S Asia Summit 2019 in Hong Kong on April 5, 2019. Congratulations to MA Mohit along with his fellow mountaineers, Kazi Bahlul Maznu and Ikramul Hasan Shakil, on climbing to the top of Mount Langsisa RI peak (21,085 feet) of the Himalayas on July 2018. Azim Group is proud to be the sponsor of this successful expedition. Earlier, MA Mohit became the second Bangladeshi to climb the Everest in March 2011, while Kazi Bahlul Maznu won five 600m Himalayan peaks and Ikramul Hasan Shakil won a 600 Himalayan peak once. We wish them many successes ahead.
